The sky is cool, grey, and occasionally misting, but that just means when you are working hard you can keep warm enough.

And there is certainly plenty of work to be done. The deck of the Black Pearl has been cleared off, with debris and pieces that are large enough to reuse stacked carefully. All over is the gleam of cut and exposed wood, the splintered edges cut and smoothed in preparation for patching sections. One mast has been cleared of charred and torn sails and rigging, the canvas and rope set in one area to work on before it can be sent back up.

One of the current priorities, however, is fixing the stern section of the ship, the back wall of the captain's cabin, that took some of the worse damage from the kraken-

Scottish autumn nights can start to get chilly, afterall.

Party thread style, slowtimes more than welcome.

And, still no idea if Norrington has been told about him and Kennedy being on board the Pearl that time-

Wellard certainly is not going to bring it up himself, then.

"And, that could have been where you heard my name. Its quite nice to meet you then, sir."

He sort of figured it out, but Archie refused to confirm it. He nods.

"Likewise. So you know Captain Sparrow?"

Wellard nods, leaning back against the railing.

"I met him here, at Milliways. Before that-" He grins a bit.

"I head read about him, when I was younger."

Norrington turns to look at him with raised eyebrows.

"He makes it into the history books, does he?"

"Ah, not quite?" Wellard gives Norrington a sheepish smile.

"Stories, and the like. I usually had to hide the books from my tutor, even if my grandfather gave me the first one."

"What kind of stories? Penny dreadfuls?"

"They would more than likely call them that, yes." Wellard smiles wryly.

"Though it was quite a surprise to meet him here, and find they were true."

"I can imagine. But... surely it isn't quite that long between our time and yours?"

He blinks, and then shrugs. "I and Mr Kennedy are both here from 1802, sir. Long enough for someone to write down the stories and get them printed, I'd imagine."

"I meant for it to be forgotten that the stories are true."

Wellard grins, and motions to the lake and then the bar.

"You've seen some of the things that happen here, sir? And the sort of people here as well? Would anyone believe you back home, if you were to go and speak of magic?"

He shrugs. "People don't quite believe in it, so telling of it is best left as stories."

"I suppose so. I'm not sure even I would have believed it, if I hadn't seen it for myself. Sailor's tales..." He smiles slightly. "But you would be better not to take all Captain Sparrow says on face value."

"Sailors' tales and childrens' stories." Wellard chuckles, then raises an eyebrow at Norrington.

"And how do you mean that, sir?"

"Just that some of the stories he tells you may be... exaggerated, let's say."

He doesn't even mean the ones involving him.

"And some don't have to be." Wellard eyes Norrington.

Wellard purses his lips, and looks out over the Pearl.

"And this is one that certainly is."

Norrington casts an eye over the ship in turn.

"...yes. This one is definitely true."

"You saw what happened, then?" Quietly, still looking out over the ship.

"No. No, I wasn't there at the time. But I see no reason to disbelieve what Jack says."

His lips twitch in a wry smile, and Wellard nods.

"... Not much to do now, except try to fix things up best we can. Right?"

"I suppose so. That part of it that can be repaired."

Wellard glances back over at Norrington.

"... Ships are easy enough, thankfully. Just a lot of work, is all. Work and research, unless a carpenter shows up in the bar." He smiles wryly.

"Perhaps there's one already here, if we only put up a sign."

"-Might have to see about that, though I've not heard of one, or met anyone such as that either. Since before, I was working on building my own ship, and no one's ever commented on it in reguards to their own skills... Particularly if I was doing something wrong..."

He shrugs, with a quiet chuckle.
