OOM: Pearl Repairs

The sky is cool, grey, and occasionally misting, but that just means when you are working hard you can keep warm enough.

And there is certainly plenty of work to be done. The deck of the Black Pearl has been cleared off, with debris and pieces that are large enough to reuse stacked carefully. All over is the gleam of cut and exposed wood, the splintered edges cut and smoothed in preparation for patching sections. One mast has been cleared of charred and torn sails and rigging, the canvas and rope set in one area to work on before it can be sent back up.

One of the current priorities, however, is fixing the stern section of the ship, the back wall of the captain's cabin, that took some of the worse damage from the kraken-

Norrington casts an eye over the ship in turn.

"...yes. This one is definitely true."

"You saw what happened, then?" Quietly, still looking out over the ship.

"No. No, I wasn't there at the time. But I see no reason to disbelieve what Jack says."

His lips twitch in a wry smile, and Wellard nods.

"... Not much to do now, except try to fix things up best we can. Right?"

"I suppose so. That part of it that can be repaired."

Wellard glances back over at Norrington.

"... Ships are easy enough, thankfully. Just a lot of work, is all. Work and research, unless a carpenter shows up in the bar." He smiles wryly.

"Perhaps there's one already here, if we only put up a sign."

"-Might have to see about that, though I've not heard of one, or met anyone such as that either. Since before, I was working on building my own ship, and no one's ever commented on it in reguards to their own skills... Particularly if I was doing something wrong..."

He shrugs, with a quiet chuckle.

"It might be that they just never came outside when you were", Norrington suggests.

"Right, then." Wellard nods.

"So, I can see about putting up a sign- if we're able to find an actual carpenter, to help."

"It couldn't hurt, at least."

He nods.

"And, we just keep working on until we find someone. I've certainly gotten enough books on ship building- repairing isn't that much different."

"I'm sure we'll muddle through", Norrington agrees.

Another nod, and Wellard looks back at Norrington.

"You're figuring out everything alright, then?"

"For the ship? Oh, yes."

"Would you like to see some of the books I've gotten? At least the ones that much more apply for this?"

Wellard grins.

"The ones on aeroplanes.... not so much."

"I think that would be very interesting", he says with a smile. "Thank you."

"Not a problem at all, sir- I'll make a note to bring them with me, next time." Wellard gives him a nod and smile.

"Though, with your pardon, I should probably get back to seeing about setting that piece of railing."
