OOM: Room 75
Sep. 4th, 2006 06:13 pmWellard's rapidly growing collection of books had grown too large to continue being neatly stacked on his desk. There certainly was enough space in his room for a book case, and those are quite easier to build than a boat. With some time carefully spent in the last few evenings, he now has one. While it may not be particularly fancy, it is sturdy and carefully made, and each section sanded until it was mirror-smooth.
It is short work to assemble the sections together in his room, and then start organizing his books, papers, a few knickknacks on the shelves. All the while, his thoughts keep returning to a conversation between him and the Commodore a few days ago.
("and... the oceans are a place of grave peril and danger for God knows how long afterwards, and even anywhere near the ocean as well. -Which changes history as well.")
("Can you imagine the... sort of time mix ups it may cause?")
("I do not recall anything changing, from before." ... "They connect. And the second affects the first.")
The light from the lamp on his desk catches on the odd mirror of ruby glass that he was setting in the corner of the bookcase.
("Emerald Shipping and Trading company, rather. ... The ship's the Challenge. ... It's one of my grandfather's ships.")
If the East India Company attempted to gain control of Davy Jones and the Wild, changing the history that he knew-
Emerald Shipping and Trading. His grandfather's and father's company, even if it had been dissolved upon his father's death, had been ultimately reliant on the oceans- And, as free-traders, being able to work around the East India Company. If that did all change-
There are quite a few things that would quite directly affect. Himself being one of them, above all.
And that starts up a whole new set of quite worrisome thoughts.
