With a head still prone to pounding, and dizziness that comes and goes, the best place for Wellard on board the Pearl is NOT up in the rigging.

Thankfully, sail mending is not too much a strain on the eyes, can be done while sitting, and safely down on deck. And it is something he can do while trying

("I'll remember.")

to puzzled out the blank spot in his memory, while trying to not worry too much.

Yes. Let's keep the midshipman out of the rigging, please.

"Hello, Henry. Do you need help with that?"

Wellard looks up- and the bit of canvas, needle and thread are hastily put aside so he can stand up, smiling.

"Amy! You made it out here."

"Captain Sparrow was kind enough to bring me," she says.

"How are you feeling?"

From: [identity profile] politestpirate.livejournal.com
"Better today." Wellard smiles wryly. "So that's quite good."

... and give him a few more moments to notice something rather important.

"... Amy?"

Very glad indeed.

"Not for about three months, now, my time," she says, perfectly straight-faced. "Giving birth tends to have that effect.

Wellard blinks, and laughs sheepishly, smiling.

"Ah- well. That sort of tends to do it, I would gather. Um." He looks back up to Amy.

"Congradulations."

"Thank you," she says.

"Do you mind if we sit down? I'm not especially used to boats."

They don't bother her, either. This is just the diplomatic way of getting to "shouldn't you be sitting down, what with the head injury and all?"

Wellard would not quite get that part of it, but the gentle reminder to get a seat for a lady-

Or nudge over another barrel like the one he was using for a seat, still works. A sheepish smile to Amy, and he motions to the makeshift chair.

"Though, being on the lake isn't quite like being out at sea at all."

Amy settles onto the barrel.

"No, I don't imagine it would be," says Amy, looking around.

"And you really are, if not yet recovered than still recovering?"

Gingerly, he reaches up to carefully touch the still-tender bump on his head.

"Things aren't spinning about as much anymore, which is quite good." Wellard smiles wryly. "And it doesn't hurt as much, though at least with that I knew it wasn't-"

He blinks, and bites his lip.

Wellard takes a deep breath. "That the dizziness wasn't laudanum, or even alcohol." He manages a humorless smile. "It certainly hurt too much for that to be the case, thankfully."

Wellard ducks his head, with a sheepish smile.

"Quite rightly so," agrees Amy. "One should always get to know the spouses of one's friends. And if you were the one who had gotten married, I would quite insist on meeting her."

A grin that softens into a contented smile. "There is no way that part of my life could be any happier or more perfect than it is. Save that he has not yet had the chance to be approved of by all of my friends."

"And my friends would not have permitted it had I tried."

"And the other we shall have to remedy. You know you are always welcome, Henry, even when there is not a terribly formal event being held in a cathedral. In fact, if what you want is to properly meet Perry, sometime there is not a terribly formal event going on is probably best."

"At least until the pier only moves about because its floating, and not any more because things are moving about for me more than they should." A bit wryly, then he gives Amy a reassuring smile.

"Just so long as you not being held here without your consent," she says, firmly.

She trusts Professor Lyon, and even Captain Sparrow, but some things a queen has to ascertain for herself. And if she suspects for a second something is wrong here, well, she does have the authority to send out the Ambergeldian army.

Wellard blinks, then chuckles quietly.

"I did make it over here- well, not without some help, but I did. If I had to, I could get back to shore." He smiles, touching Amy's arm reassuringly.

"Captain Sparrow brought me out here because he thought it best to take care of me. We're still figuring what happened- and its quite a bit easier to keep an eye on things on a ship, than the whole bar."

"I don't know Captain Sparrow especially well, Henry, but you and Professor Lyon both seem to trust him, and I think that more than enough of recommendation that I may do the same."

Though she reserves the right to draw a distinction between trusting Captain Sparrow and trusting Captain Sparrow's judgment. Just in case.

Specially since it quite takes someone to hit him over the head to do that, doesn't it?

Wellard does stand as well- it would not do otherwise to see the Queen of Ambergeldar off.

"Quite soon, Amy." He smiles. "Quite soon."
